Over 6,000 fashionistas, global brands from Project Runway to Mexico and Manila, along with the UK’s Boots No7, Fiat, TONI&GUY and FIDM, make for another successful year of fashion in the desert

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (October 10, 2013) – Phoenix Fashion Week 2013 broke another year of annual attendance records with more than 6,000 fashionistas flocking to Talking Stick Resort for a week of high fashion, shopping and industry expert-led seminars. With an impressive lineup of global partnerships and brands, Phoenix Fashion Week has not only secured its position as the leading fashion event in the Southwest, but is quickly gaining recognition as one of the fastest growing fashion events in the country.

The 6th annual Phoenix Fashion Week not only brought success for designers and buyers alike, it also continued its successful humanity pillar with the annual Fashionably Pink Celebrity Fashion Show kicking off the week on Tuesday, October 1st at Domus Phx, an all-new luxury living community in the Arcadia district. For the first time, the sold out event raised thousands of dollars for local breast cancer charity “Don’t Be a Chump! Check for a Lump!”,  with founder and breast cancer survivor Holly Rose working to secure funding to put towards wigs for breast cancer survivors following chemotherapy and mammograms for low income women in Arizona. What’s more, 10 inspirational survivors and 35 celebrities, including KISS FM’s John Jay and Rich, Channel 3’s Yetta Gibson and FOX 10’s Kristin Anderson walked in the show to show their support for the cause.

Phoenix Fashion Week at Talking Stick Resort kicked off on Thursday, October 3rd with Fashion by Robert Black, who brought 1950’s – 1980’s Arizona fashion history to the runway for a memorable opening. Not to be outdone, Project Runway Season 12 designer Bradon McDonald produced a fan-favorite collection, combining his creative background as a former professional dancer and signature fabric manipulation, embellishment, and uncommon hand-sewing techniques for an impressive runway show. Finally, Phoenix Fashion Week brought in the powerhouse Filipino designer Rocky Gathercole to close the week in style on Saturday October 5th, featuring an avant-garde 30-piece collection, before every model returned on stage for a once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity to glimpse the designs, only inches away from attendees.

“Phoenix Fashion Week continues to surprise everyone with our growth, production quality and global brands, hailing from as far away as Manila, Dubai, Mexico, New York and Los Angeles. We truly are the premier fashion event in the Southwest,” said PHXFW Executive Director Brian Hill.
