PHOENIX FASHION WEEK 2012 SMASHES ATTENDANCE RECORDS, GAINS INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION

Over 6,000 fashionistas, 2.2 million TV impressions, and doubled ticket sales made PHXFW12 a rousing success

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (January 20, 2013) – Phoenix Fashion Week 2012 shattered its annual attendance record with more than 6,000 fashionistas flocking to the tents at Talking Stick Resort. With over 2.2 million TV impressions, doubled online ticket sales over 2011, and a feature in international magazine TIME, Phoenix Fashion Week has not only secured its position as the leading fashion event in the Southwest, but is quickly gaining recognition as one of the fastest growing fashion events in the country.

The 8th annual Phoenix Fashion Week not only brought success for designers and buyers alike, it also continued its successful crusade against breast cancer with the annual Fashionably Pink fashion show kicking off the week. The event raised thousands of dollars for Susan G. Komen, with founder Nancy Brinker attending as an honored guest. 10 inspirational survivors and 25 celebrities walked in the show to show their support for the cause.

Furne One, Dubai based designer to the stars, brought international recognition to PHXFW with a 31-piece ‘Best Of’ Collection. Pieces from Furne’s line have been seen on the likes of Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, Heidi Klum, and Jennifer Lopez. To close the show at fashion week, International supermodel Raina Hein walked in the finale look.

Phoenix Fashion Week also reached another milestone this year with a feature in TIME Magazine. Of the feature, Brian Hill, Executive Director of PHXFW, said, “To have PHXFW featured in a globally recognized publication like TIME Magazine has been a big confirmation for our team to know that we are on the right track. This is a sign of good things to come in 2013.”

Three 2012 PHXFW designers – Jlynn Hausmann of Jhaus, Paulie Gibson and Bri Seeley – were also chosen by Zappos to sell designs on the ecommerce platform. “The partnership that we forged with Zappos.com led us into our 7-city tour looking for the best 12 emerging designers in the nation and to have 3 of those 12 selected by Zappos to be sold on their global ecommerce platform is amazing, rewarding and life-changing for these designers,” said Hill.
